Last night the Tories showed their support for Candlelight Vigil for Life

A Candelight Vigil was held outside the New Brunswick Legislature December 11.  Twelve Tory MLAs including former Premier David Alward attended.

Bishop Robert Harris of the Saint John Catholic Diocese was also present and spoke to many Pro-Life members who came out to pray weathering the rain.

Two Conservative Opposition members introduced a motion in the Legislature calling for a debate on the Liberal government’s proposed changes in abortion policy. The motion may be debated next Thursday.

This week the Rt. Rev. David Edwards, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Fredericton, which covers the province, wrote a letter to Premier Brian Gallant urging him to reconsider his decision to repeal restrictions on abortion access.  See Letter Below

NB Right to Life will hold another Candelight Vigil on Dec. 18. Meanwhile it is sponsoring a postcard campaign directed to the Premier. As part of its Keep the Lights On Campaign for Life this month, NB Right to Life asks the public to keep their house lights on all night Dec. 28-Jan. 2 as a sign of solidarity with unborn children and their mothers.

NB Right to Life welcomes the motion put forward today, and very much believes the momentous changes proposed should be debated by the Legislative Assembly.
